Can You Trust AI to Write Your Story?
When people hear "AI writes your story," they think of chatbots making things up. Hallucinating facts. Inventing details that never happened.
That's a reasonable fear. And it's exactly the problem we obsess over at OriginTold.
Our rules
1. The AI only uses your moments. If you didn't capture it, it doesn't appear in the story. 2. Your words are quoted directly. When you said something distinctive, the story uses your exact phrasing. 3. You can see the sources. Tap "Woven from 8 moments" and see exactly which moments fed into each story. 4. You control what's included. Pin moments to emphasize them. Exclude moments you don't want in the story. 5. You always review before saving. Nothing is published or finalized without your approval.
Provenance: the trust layer
Every story in OriginTold has a provenance view. It shows you each moment that was captured, and whether it was used in the story. You can trace any sentence back to its source.
This isn't just transparency theater. It's how we ensure the AI stays honest. If a story says "we had dinner at that little place by the harbor," there should be a moment about dinner. If there isn't, the story shouldn't say it.
The role of AI in personal storytelling
AI shouldn't replace your voice. It should amplify it. You capture the raw material — the photos, the observations, the feelings. The AI organizes, connects, and polishes. But the substance is always yours.
Think of it like having a thoughtful friend who was with you all day, and that evening they say: "Here's what I think your day was about." You read it, nod, maybe change a few things, and save it. That's the experience we're building.
